Oh dear.  This is the only problem with gearing up for a fantastic feast - the post feast day of rest NEEDS to be taken.

It's been a lovely week though - shopping last weekend (we got new house phones that have a cool display menu and goofy as hell ring tones, but we kind of like them) and experienced the fear and terror (and silly) of a Super Target.  Made it through classes last week just waiting for Thursday to come around.  Then Wednesday afternoon came, with it's cleaning and stock-rendering (for the stuffing, of course).  The temperature that morning got into the 80s and by nightfall had dropped down to the high 40s.

And finally, Turkey Day dawned.  19 pounds?  I think that's how big.  We did stuffing and mashed potatoes and a funky philo dough thing with veggies (oh, and one vegitarian stuffing and mushroom gravy along with the usual stuff).  We used two pounds of butter, I think, all told.  Not that the 8 of us that ate dinner actually consumed that much, but it goes in the turkey and into the stuffing, and in the philo pastry and mashedpotatoes.  Yep, we like butter here.  And turkey day is the butteriest day of all.  For dessert we decided against pie, and did baked apples (with cinnamon, brown sugar and pecans inside with a scoop of vanilla beside it).  And the company?  The company was fantastic - Joel & his sister, Mochie and his boyfriend, Me and Neil and Dar and a new friend from class Chaille.  We played guitar hero and sing star and cranium (it was just one of those kinds of nights), and ate till we were full but not rolling.

The funniest thing is we have enough leftovers we could probably do the entire feast thing again with all 8 guests tonight and STILL have leftovers afterwards.  I hope y'all had fantastic Turkey Day celebrations (if you do that sort of thing) and lovely Thursdays if you don't!

I had grand plans for this weekend's homework load.  I'm still planning on achieving them, but the "I'll just do a little bit every day"plan looks like it might be more of a "I'll spend all of Sat and Sun working" plan at this point.  Especially since I don't even want to get out of my jammies and I'm supposed to run up and take care of a friend's cat... and it's already 4:30.

I blame my utter lack of motivation on the Turkey, really.  It's all triptophane's falt.

Alas, tryptophan's narcotic abilities are a bit overstated (http://www.snopes.com/food/ingredient/turkey.asp) and you're just being a lazy Katekat. You deserve your day(s) of rest, though, and should enjoy them.

Glad you enjoyed Thanksgiving. :)

The Turkey says, "Leave me alone."

Happy Turkey Day, honey. (hugs you and the folks)

Woot! You sound like you had an AWESOME t-giving! The dinner sounds all 'round amazing! Yum! I'm feeling like a shit friend, as I was going to be sure to call and wish y'all a happy thanksgiving, but completely forgot. Then I went out of town and left my phone in Helena. *facepalm*

Just finished calling, but I'm guessing someone's on the phone. :)

Miss you loads and have a lovely week.

*hugs*
