bathroom 1, Neil & Kate...1/2?

katekatWe're done! (almost) It's pretty complete! The bathroom renovation is over!
just to give you a little perspective....
we started with this: and it now looks like this:

I'll be honest, I want to do a rundown of the fun, the trauma, the pain, and the reason why we actually still have two sinks (although only one is installed), but I'm too pooped. Today started yesterday again - up till 3:30 am studying, left the house at 9 for 10 am class... went from 10 am - 3 pm and had a japanese test as the last class ... then went to the department "spring faire" thingy for a while. Didn't get home till six. Makes for a long brain draining day... especially when we then went right back out to the hardware store and then finished the bathroom. Phew. Going to go goof now.

Date: 2007-04-12 07:38 pm (UTC)I really like the shower fixture and door...much nicer than before (and glass doors really "class things up"...altho' it's good you have a private bathroom: my grandparents had a glass shower door and only one bathroom...so anytime someone had to go to the bathroom while someone else was in the shower...well, let's just say it's a good thing my family's okay with nudity, lol).
I like the colors you chose (or at least what I'm assuming they look like IRL)...very warm and inviting. Also, the grouting on the tile looks really well done *is impressed* It is SO hard to get grouting to look really nice.
Hope you did okay on the test (sorry, forgot to mention that last...I was completely ditzing out)!

Date: 2007-04-15 06:57 pm (UTC)Don't the shower fixtures look great? I was so pleased when we found those. And I completely agree with you - the whole thing changes everythign so much. And I didn't even think about the nakedness whopsies - that would be crazy in a communal bathroom! But yeah, i don't think this project would've even been started if we hadn't had another bathroom.
The grout was SUCH a saga - we actually didn't clean it off from the tiles properly at first and had to go through this whole super-scrub process (evil) but it came out pretty ok. Thank you for the reassurance! I think the one thing I wasn't expecting was that the tile had rough edges so the grout would have rough edges....i just didn't put two and two together.
And the colors are *very* hard to capture on camera... which is so frustrating! But i think the pictures give you enough of an idea that you kind of can get the general impression - and I'm glad you like!! someday when you take your next trip out here i'll be happy to show you in person!
omg, the funniest thing was me finally getting to actually use the toilet - since we'd had it in there for a week but no toilet paper, so neil could but i couldn't... not until we put everything else in. Inagural flushing was so much fun!
