yay! it was meant to! i was kind of chuckling at myself too. I've seen it done really well as a trope, but also not so well in very much the way you describe - they abandon the actual dynamic to focus on something else. It is kind of fascinating, but I wonder if it's also reflective of how media in general does this? Like Pretty Woman didn't do any better at facing it's own premise than some of the fanfic do.
And do you mean like trope bingo? or something else? because i've really enjoyed some people who actually write stuff to satisfy their trope bingo cards, and learned a lot about the names of tropes (or the trope bingo name for some of these things).
