It's my own fault for reading a hooker-au I suppose.
That made me laugh. It's never been a favorite trope of mine although I've read many of them at this point. In fact, I read one in the last week although I find that both hooker and slave stories are often very wishy washy about the trope. They're really rescue or h/c stories of some kind rather than stories about how two people navigate a relationship in that situation, so they just start out with the premise but often have a rescue occur about 5 pages in.
It makes me wonder if there's ever been a meme for tropes as in -- have you ever read and can you name a favorite. I'm pretty sure there's bunches of tropes I'm not even aware of that I've ended up reading.
Sounds like you have a lot going on yourself and around you. I agree that if the holidays pass and you're still not feeling right you should look into it.
