While talking on the phone to my stepmom today she suggested that it couldn't hurt to ask the *actual* landlord if she'd be willing to give Asha her 30 days notice and rent to me and boy!housemate.
So I did.
And as of just now, the landlord has confirmed that she gave Asha her 30 days notice. She (landlord) is willing to rent to me and boy!housemate, and we're going to sign a year lease. Asha has 30 days to vacate premises.
Now, I will admit that this was a bit on the sneaky side - instead of moving out I'm sidestepping the person I subleased from and yanking her housing out from beneath her. But, if she hadn't had such a crappy relationship with the landlord already, the landlord wouldn't have even considered it. And if she hadn't been screwing me over on the rent, I wouldn't have even thought to do it. But she did, and I did, and well, there you go!
It feels like a big weight has lifted off of my shoulders. And now me and boy!housemate are going to split the rent, and get along with our landlord, and best of all, aren't going to have to move or deal with all of that hassle.
The good part too was that I was a bit worried that when the landlord talked to Asha, Asha was going to be able to convince the landlord to let her stay - but apparently what happened was Asha just kept digging her own hole and made the landlord angry. So yep. YAY. The landlord just asked us to make sure Asha doesn't do any damage while she's moving her things out.
Both me and boy!housemate are quite relieved. Quite. These next 30 days may suck, but there's an end to the suckage in sight.
